By age six, she appeared in a Max Factor campaign, which ultimately caught the eye of fashion photographer, Francesco Scavullo. At 12 years of age, Yasmine landed a role in the feature film Hey Babe starring opposite Buddy Hackett. Thus began her career in acting. Yasmine attended the United Nations International School in New York whilst juggling both a modeling and acting career. Already well experienced in the acting field, Yasmine began acting in the soap opera Ryan's Hope by 16 years old. Her role lasted for four years before Yasmine moved on to yet another soap; this time it was One Life To Live.

Yasmine, however, is probably most famous for her well-known role as Caroline Holden in the worldwide hard-hitting drama (we're kidding) Baywatch, which began in 1994. During her three-year run on the bikini clad show, People magazine voted her one of 1995's 50 most beautiful people. Her stint on Baywatch landed Yasmine some made-for-TV movies including The Lake, Ultimate Betrayal, Road Rage, and A Face To Die For. She finally got her big screen debut in the movies Basketball and Undercover Angels, although these films did not generate any monumental appeal. More recently, Yasmine starred opposite Don Johnson in the CBS hit show Nash Bridges and has moved on to play the vixen in Aaron Spelling's latest nighttime soap opera Titans. Yasmine' s personal life met tragedy in 1992 when her mother, Cartina, died of breast cancer. In turn, this inspired her to open her own website for breast cancer research at www.yasmineonline.com . Although Yasmine had a short-lived relationship with Friends actor Matthew Perry, she has been dating actor Richard Grieco for a few years now and she currently resides in Los Angeles.

CELEBRITIES OF THE YEAR: FROM THE MOST BORING TO THE MOST TALENTED
MOST TALENTED AND LUCKIEST CELEBRITIES

BIOGRAPHY SYNOPSIS: "She moves and sings like a goddess. Whether she is singing in French, Portuguese or English, this magnificent singer managed to preserve her warm, original and bursting persona. She did it with style, touching romanticism and superb originality. Her style is versatile, abundant with creative musical nuances, charismatic stage presence and nostalgic passion. Most certainly, such versatility ascertained Karrin Allyson's mastery of multi-varied and multidimensional genres, ranging from Brazilian tempo, Bossa Nova, the lyrical and intellectual Jacques Brel ballades to humanistic Jazz pieces. And she excelled in delivering the beauty, warmth and vivacious ambiance expected as a prerequisite for a solid and captivating repertoire. In that context, Ms. Allyson takes the lead and shines brighter than all the singers and chanteuses who embarked on such daring musical and vocal journey. Karrin Allyson is one of America's greatest singers of all time.", wrote Maximillien de Lafayette in the London's Monthly Herald.
“One of the most charismatic figures on tour today.”,
New York Times.
“Allyson knows what jazz singing is all
about...sometimes tender, sometimes tough (she) always strikes the right
chord.” , Associated Press. “The
stuff that shivers are made of, both innocent, sexy and world weary.”, The
Washington Post.
“Name
your singing style and there's a pretty good chance that Karrin Allyson can
handle it,
and handle it well.”,
Los Angeles Times.
It’s not just critics who love Karrin Allyson.
It’s the rest of the world, too—musicians, concertgoers and connoisseurs of
quality music. The two-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer has been
gathering fans everywhere jazz can be heard or seen since 1992. That was the
year Allyson assembled her Kansas City-based rhythm section, borrowed funds
from her family and headed into the studio. The result? I Didn’t Know About
You. The reaction was immediate. “Stunning debut! Irresistible twists of
melody and inflection,” wrote veteran jazz critic Neil Tesser in Playboy
Magazine, placing the young singer in the company of legends Ella
Fitzgerald and Shirley Horn.

Critics
and jazz lovers from coast to coast echoed the news. And, now with the release
of her ninth Concord Records CD, Wild for You, Allyson is serving
notice to all who were previously unaware—she is a major talent that is about
to drive you wild. Recording the music that first inspired Allyson to sing
during her childhood, Wild For You is a highly personal coming of age,
a deeply touching tribute to the great singer / songwriters and their music of
the 1970s. Whether it is the irresistible groove of Joni Mitchell’s “All I
Want,” the undeniable sass of Melissa Manchester’s “I Got Eyes,”
or the highly personal plea of Elton John’s “Sorry Seems to be the Hardest
Word,” Allyson is able to capture the essence of these classic melodies and
timeless lyrics while convincingly making them her own. Over the years,
Allyson has performed several of the tunes on Wild For You during live
dates to a hearty audience response. Favorites have included Carly Simon’s
“Mind on My Man,” Roberta Flack’s “Feel Like Makin’ Love,” and Carole King’s
“It’s Too Late.” Allyson says now felt like the right time to release these
important works as a collection, primarily as a result of consistent and
constant requests from her fans. She also notes, “When I first discovered jazz
in college, I delved into the songs of Nancy Wilson, Carmen McRae, Billie
Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. But I never forgot about these great ‘pop’ tunes
and featured them during live performances. I also included a few of them on
previous recordings. I am so excited that I have been able to now dedicate a
whole CD to these tunes.” Karrin Allyson has recorded a series of nine CDs for
Concord Records, each of which have showcased her astonishing breadth of
repertoire, from standards by Gershwin and Porter to Brazilian bossa nova to
samba and Thelonious Monk. Most recently, the vocalist has sharpened her
focus, taking on in turn French and Brazilian music (From Paris to Rio),
the genius of John Coltrane (Ballads: Remembering John Coltrane)
and the blues (In Blue). Her many eclectic and steadfast recordings,
however, are only the tip of the iceberg.
