SHORT STORY 2005 INTERNATIONAL CONTEST

Would you like to be a published author? Here is your chance! The World Jewish News Agency is sponsoring its first contest for short story writing!!!!!!

We are not only news, commentary, and politics! You come to us because we are also culture, books, and style. And now we are taking it one step further. We want to encourage and sponsor good, interesting, and exciting writers, and we know that such writers exist among our readers in large numbers! We want YOUR short story!

An independent committee, consisting of some of our finest writers, columnists, and contributors, will carefully read and evaluate each and every story. Of the many stories submitted, the committee will choose the twenty-five winners. A reputable and successful Print-On-Demand publisher will publish the twenty-five winning stories. It will be a beautiful book anyone would be proud to own, exceedingly suitable for gift giving, and it will be readily available from various sources, such as Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and the publisher. Who knows? Such an anthology may carry you into fame and fortune!

A small entry fee of $25.00 must accompany each story; this will serve to defray the high cost of producing such a book.

Here are the simple rules and submission requirements:

Your story must be an original story that has not been published anywhere else.
The story should be no longer than 20 double-spaced pages.
The story does not have to deal strictly with Jewish subjects, but it must be of interest to our readers. Be creative!
The story cannot be defamatory, pornographic, or obscene to the degree that it would not be carried by a traditional bookstore.
The story cannot in any way be illegal or include any recipes, formulae, instructions, or recommendations that may be injurious to any reader, user, or third party.
The story must be submitted as a Word document, attached to an e-mail directed to press@worldjewishnewsagency.org
The entry fee, consisting of a check or money order, must be sent to the Agency’s address with a brief note stating your name and the name of your story, so it could be matched to your E-mail submission. THE WORLD JEWISH NEWS AGENCY, P.O. Box 2239, 432 East 14 Street, New York, NY 10009-9998 , USA.

And if your story does not make it this time – do not despair, you will always have a second and third chance. We intend to have additional contests, not only of fiction, but also of poetry, articles, and essays. Good luck!
