INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING
ANTI-SEMITISM REPORTS
TURKEY IS NOT ON THE SIDE OF CHRISTIANS, JEWS AND ISRAEL!
If you dig deep in the social, historical and political fabric of Turkey, you will find out that Turkey is one of the most fanatic Muslim countries on the face of the earth! You must know Turkish and live for a while in Turkey to fully understand and realize how much the Turkish populace disdains the United States and distrusts the Christians and the Jews. The very first thing a shopkeeper will ask a tourist entering his shop is this: "Muslimam?". Yep! The shopkeeper wants to know upfront whether you are a Muslim or not. President Bush does not shop in the Souks and bazaar-markets of Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Konia, Marmara bay area and Adana. So, perhaps, the word "Musliman" could appear to him as the name of a Turkish food specialty. But, it is not. The very moment, a middle class Turk finds out that you are a Jew or a Christian, the color and the geography of his face change 360 degrees. And if it does happen that you are an American Jew, forget about it, the prices will quadruple and his rapport with you will turn into cartoonist's nightmares. Official statements issued by the Turkish government and official organizations, and speeches given by members of the Turkish cabinet do not echo the real sentiments, feelings, beliefs and ideas of the Turkish masses. Official communiqués and statements are usually well crafted, measured, calculated and issued to meet certain needs, disseminate very specific points of views and "to please or not to upset" the Americans. Especially , those communiqués and official statements issued by countries like Jordan, Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey which are on the payroll of the United States. It is a very simple process to know what a nation thinks about the United States, Christians and Jews. I will give you a hint; two examples. You do two things. 1-See what kind of headlines, stories, editorials they read in their papers, and kinds of books they buy. 2-Find out what they teach their kids in schools. And this week, we go the perfect example.
HITLER'S "MEIN KAMPF" IS TAKING
TURKEY BY STORM
Adolf Hitler’s "Mein Kampf", which was and still is a bestseller in many Arab and Muslim countries, has become a national bestseller in Turkey. In the past, "Mein Kampf " has been translated into Arabic several times and was widely read in Iraq, Lebanon and Syria. The book was also distributed by Palestinians in Ramallah and Al-Shuruq which are under the control of the Palestinian authority. In 1998, the book became a national bestseller in the Palestinian territories. Now, in Turkey, over 175,000 copies of Hitler's book have been snatched off the shelves since they were reprinted in Turkey in Turkish. The Turks loved the Nazi "final solution" and extermination of the Jewish people. To an extremely large segment of the population, Hitler is a hero. Moderate Muslims in Turkey felt embarrassed, so to speak?! They attributed the success and popularity of the book to its mass production and very cheap price. This is NOT totally true, for the the price of a copy is $20. And this is NOT cheap in Turkey! The Germans in Bavaria were not embarrassed but angry. Kurt Faltlhauser, minister of finance of Bavaria is furious. He said: " Mein Kampf is a German property. The book should not be reprinted. The state of Bavaria administers the copyright very restrictively to prevent the propagation of Nazi ideas." So, the moderate Muslims in Turkey are embarrassed. The Germans in Bavaria are angry. And how about the Jews in Turkey? Lina Filiba, the executive vice president of Turkey's Jewish Community, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that the popularity of Hitler's book is alarming. She goes on to add: " it was part of a worrying trend that includes the sale of anti-Semitic publications such as the Protocols of the Elders of Zion at popular local department stores." Professor Dogu Ergil, an eminent political scientist in Istanbul stated that the popularity of the book explains the wide spread of "hatred for the Jews, and an evidence of full steam anti-Semitism and anti-Americanism." Ergil added: "Nazi ideologies are re-emerging in Turkey." Tayseer Showkatt, a books distributor in Ankara and Istanbul, told the Jewish Post that, he has "already distributed 75,000 copies of Hitler's book in Turkish...70,000 copies are already sold, and new editions of the book are en route."
Hitler' book is an all time favorite in the Muslim and Arab world. Sami Al Jundi, one of the first leaders of Syria 's original Al Baa'th party, mentioned in his autobiography, Syria's admiration for Nazism, Hitler and "Mein Kampf". In 1930, Al Jundi wrote: “We admired Nazism, and we loved reading its books. We were the first who believed that "Mein Kampf " must be translated into Arabic and other languages as well." Up to this very moment, Muslims in general, and Arabs in particular still admire Adolph Hitler and see him as a "giant hero". Hitler had very close political ties with Palestine's Grand Mufti, Cheik Amin Al Husseini, who fully supported Nazi Germany. Al Husseini was the mentor of Yasser Arafat and paternal uncle of Faisal Al Husseini, the PA delegate in Jerusalem. Cheik Al Husseini was an ardent supporter of Hitler. History told us that Al Husseini during his visits to Jewish death camps and concentration camps in Nazi Germany, asked Hitler to extend and expand the "Final Solution" of the Jewish people to all the Jews who lived in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, North America in general, and Palestine in particular.
