The evacuation of settlements in Gaza continued on Friday, as troops sought to evict residents from Gadid. While some staged noisy protests, others left more quietly, resigned to the inevitable.

Security forces, a few rabbis and a small number of resisters were the only inhabitants of Neve Dekalim on Friday. Others in the settlement also took to the rooftops to mark their opposition to Israel's exit from Gaza.

Israeli troops have been carrying out the final phase of the removal of Jewish settlers from the Gaza Strip. Left with no choice, settlers began dismantling the interior of synagogues.

The army was met by angry residents and burning barricades at several settlements. Some families stood outside their homes to try to reason with soldiers, only delaying the inevitable...

Others likened their plight to the Holocaust, wearing yellow stars like the ones Jews were forced to wear by the Nazis .Many settlers, including children, wore orange clothes - the colour of the protest against the evictions.

One family displayed symbolic tombstones, representing names notorious in Jewish history.  Bulldozers later began the first large-scale demolitions since the Israeli pullout started six days ago.
