JEWISH STAND Disengagement or Suicide?
Israel appears to be committing suicide and nothing will stop them. Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is plunging ahead with the Gaza Disengagement Plan, despite all the warning signs. And Israel’s longtime ally the United States seems to be encouraging them over the precipice. The recent announcement that U.S. taxpayers will be sending $50 million to the "new and improved" Palestinian Authority was the final nail in the coffin. But the truth is the much-heralded disengagement plan that is supposed to bring peace and harmony to the region is likely to have the opposite effect. The Palestinian Authority under Mahmoud Abbas (a Soviet disciple and an expert in Holocaust denial) has done nothing to curb terrorism or incitement in the media. After giving the initial appearance of reform, the P.A. and its terrorist affiliates simply resumed business as usual. Hence the widely publicized sermon last month on P.A. TV in which Sheik Ibrahim Mudeiris likened Jews to "a virus resembling AIDS" and called for Muslims to "finish off every Jew." Then there have been the daily terrorist attacks on Israel, most of which have been thwarted by the IDF and kept quiet in the pro-Palestinian mainstream media. Let’s not forget the overwhelming success of Hamas during the last election in Gaza. Despite the resurgence of Sharia law in the territories and the subsequent increase in Palestinian women murdered via honor killings, Palestinians just keep voting for the hardliners. Whether it be Fatah or Hamas that wins out in the end, Palestinian democracy is likely to result in yet another Islamic, terrorist state in the region. Yet this is the state that the Bush Administration thinks will rise to the occasion. But their eagerness to jump on the peace process bandwagon may have blinded them to the realities of the situation. In a move that disappointed many of his pro-Israel constituents, President Bush dropped his demands that the P.A. dismantle terrorist groups while meeting with Abbas last month. He didn’t directly question Fatah’s attempts to work with Hamas either. This from the man who once said, "We will make no distinction between the terrorists and those who harbor them." Why the Bush Administration apparently gets it when it comes to fighting Islamic terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq, but can’t see the connection to Israel is baffling. Particularly since Palestinian terrorists groups have been entirely forthcoming in their hostility towards the United States. And murdering Americans is hardly the mark of an ally. Then there’s the fact that members of al-Qaeda have been spotted canoodling with their Palestinian cohorts in preparation for the disengagement. Senate majority leader Bill Frist seems to have bought into the double standard as well, going so far as to suggest in a recent op-ed that the U.S. double the amount of money being sent to the corrupt Palestinian Authority. Like other deluded souls, Frist seems to think that because of the "new leadership in Ramallah…the chance for peace [is] high." He tries to explain away anti-American sentiment among the Palestinians by blaming U.S. support for Israel. This belief is popular among Islamic terrorists and their apologists, a group that Bill Frist is coming dangerously close to emulating with his statements. But ultimately it’s the Sharon government that must bear the blame for this foolhardy venture. Despite all evidence to the contrary, they are determined to go ahead with the disengagement plan in the hopes that it will bring increased security to Israel. Instead, Palestinian terrorist groups have openly declared it a victory for the terrorist "resistance" and an impetus to continue their genocidal war against Israel. At this point, they’re debating whether or not to fire on Jews during the expulsion. The disengagement plan will leave Israel with yet another border to guard, only this time it will be nice and close to major cities such as Tel Aviv and Ashkelon. The already tiny country will be that much smaller. All hopes rest on the security barrier, which many predict will put a damper on encroaching terrorism. Indeed it probably will, at least for a little while. The section that is already completed has demonstrated some defensive success. But the always-inventive Palestinians will simply come up with alternate methods of inflicting wounds on their enemies. The already noted increase in Kassam rocket attacks is the next front in their war to destroy Israel. In terms of public support in Israel for the disengagement plan, unsurprisingly, it has emanated mostly from the left. Always in favor of any action that involves Israeli capitulation, many have backed the plan, putting aside their other disagreements with Sharon. Those Israelis that oppose the disengagement plan have been demonized by the government and accused of "incitement" at every turn. Neither has been given the opportunity to vote on the plan and even surveys are being suppressed for fear of exposing widespread opposition. Even Arab Knesset member Ayoob Kara has expressed dismay at Israel’s apparent death wish. Warning that, "The withdrawal is going to be terrible for Israeli security," he is strongly opposed to the disengagement plan. If Kara, a fellow member of the Likud Party, can comprehend the folly of this move, why can’t Sharon?

Israel’s enemies among the Western left have been unmoved by news of the disengagement plan. They continue on with their nonsensical calls for divestment from the "apartheid state" and their protests against Israel for daring to exist. A threatened academic boycott of two Israel universities by Britain's Association of University Teachers (AUT) was only called off at the last minute because of public outcry. Even the president of Al-Quds University, Sari Nusseibeh, publicly opposed the boycott, labeling the timing counter-productive. But the left remains unswayed, pressing on with its memorized script of anti-Israel rhetoric, reality notwithstanding. These are the critics to whom Sharon gives credence with his disengagement follies. The last time Jews were forcibly removed from their homes it precipitated the Holocaust. But this time instead of Nazis ousting Jews, other Jews will do the dirty work. Like some sort of sadistic punishment only anti-Semites could dream up, IDF soldiers are to expel Jewish men, women, and children to make way for Palestinian terrorists. Even the dead are not immune. Conjuring up images of Jewish grave desecration throughout history, Jewish graves will be uprooted as well. Jews determined to stay in "illegal outposts" have actually had their synagogues destroyed by IDF soldiers and their attempts to rebuild met with violence. Hitler would have been proud. It was indeed the Third Reich that came up with the term "judenrein" or "free of Jews," and no one seems to be questioning the similar logic of the disengagement plan. After all, everyone knows that "settler" is just another euphemism for Jew. Since Arabs live in Israel, why could Jews not conceivably remain in the imagined future Palestinian state? It’s doubtful they’d want to live under such rule, but this is simply wrong on principle. Writer Ariel Natan Pasko was one of the first to pose this question and Israel Zwick later followed up with a parody on disengaging "Jewish settlements" from Florida. Jerusalem Post deputy managing editor Caroline Glick has also written extensively on the subject. There is absolutely no reason that the misnamed "settlements" (the largest of which, Ariel, is a city with a population of 20,000) cannot remain intact, while Palestinians set up shop nearby. Just the way people living in pluralistic societies anywhere else in the world would do it. But as always, Muslim bigotry towards Jews is accepted where with any other group the same behavior would be deemed inexcusable. At least the homes of the Jews will be destroyed, rather than simply handing them over to the triumphant terrorists. They have to demolish the homes for fear that Palestinians will do it themselves, under the watchful eyes of the international community. Yet another good sign for the new "peaceful" neighborhood. So how to explain Sharon’s apparent insanity? It’s the Oslo syndrome all over again. Then too Israel made sacrifices while the Palestinians made none. The corrupt, terrorist leader Arafat was treated as legitimate, just as Mahmoud Abbas is today. The world was enamored of the idea of peace in the Middle East and denied all evidence to the contrary. Just as they do today. Israel’s strongest ally the United States pushed for and brokered the deal. Where once it was Bill Clinton, today it’s George W. Bush. The end result of the Oslo capitulation was increased bloodshed and the growth of Islamic terrorism in the region and beyond. And there’s absolutely no reason to believe that the disengagement plan will not result in the same thing. As the oft-cited George Santayana quote goes: Those who refuse to learn from history are condemned to repeat it. But not all Israelis are taking the disengagement lying down. Protests, rallies, and civil disobedience have taken place in Israel since the plan was announced. Orange is the color this movement has adopted and it can be seen on flags, hats, and T-shirts around the country. Jews in America have also shown their support for this resistance, with college students going on strike and prominent Jewish figures speaking out. An anti-disengagement rally was held in New York City’s Central Park on June 5 and simultaneous rallies in Tel Aviv and Washington D.C. are planned for July 19. A group of American Baptist ministers are planning a July trip to Israel to show their solidarity with the soon-to-be-ousted Jews. But the clock is ticking and the countdown to disengagement, currently slated for July 25, has already begun. Will all the outcry be enough to save Israel from itself? Only time will tell. The London Conspiracy-Theories: Here We Go AgainThe dust hadn’t even settled after the terrorist atrocities in London and already the conspiracy-theories and self-recrimination had begun. Unwilling to blame the actual perpetrators, members of the perennially paranoid among the Western Left, the Muslim world, and even the mainstream media had to find someone, anyone else to blame. Websites such as WhatReallyHappened.com, Indymedia.com, and Al-Jazeera were filled with rumors that all was not as it seemed. Meanwhile, leftist groups accused “imperialist governments” of using the attacks to justify the war in Iraq and insisted on referring to the “so-called war on terror” even as the victims of suicide bombings lay entombed in a London subway. Whether it be the Israeli conference attendees who were falsely accused of having foreknowledge of the attacks, or the idea that Western powers, by engaging the Islamic terrorists with which they are at war, had brought it on themselves, denial was running high. Ever adept at promoting conspiracy-theories throughout the Muslim world, Al-Jazeera was quick to come up with plausible denial. Turning to the statement put out by the "The Secret Organization of Al Qaeda in Europe" claiming responsibility for the attacks, they set their sites on the alleged errors in the Koranic verses it cited. Based on observations made by MSNBC translator Jacob Keryakes, Al-Jazeera wasted no time in labeling the document “phony.” Since translations are hardly foolproof, this claim was premature to say the least. As we now know, the perpetrators were indeed British Muslims of Pakistani descent. The Al-Qaeda connection is still under investigation, but the link with worldwide Islamic terrorism is undeniable. The attacks in what has become known in recent years as “Londonistan” may have been the unfortunate wake-up call that Britain needed to address the growing radicalism in their own backyard. At the heart of Al-Jazeera’s denials is a larger issue: the inability of the Muslim World to take responsibility for its own actions. Whenever terrorism rears its ugly head, blame is laid elsewhere. Having read the various statements put out by Islamic clerics in the days following the attacks defending them as “blessed acts” and just desserts for their enemies, it would seem that the shoe fits. Not to mention the usual celebrating among the Palestinians whenever Westerners are slaughtered indiscriminately. But of course, the London suicide bombers couldn’t have been Muslims. As the Director of London's Al-Maqreze Centre for Historical Studies Dr. Hani Al-Siba’i put it, “We do not rule out the possibility that it was done by the intelligence agency of another Western country hostile to Britain…or some Zionist Americans who wanted to overshadow the G-8 summit.” While other Muslim organizations, leaders and individuals did condemn the bombings, trust has become a major issue for Western audiences in such instances. Also, these proclamations tend to focus more on concern for a real or imagined “backlash” against their own communities and less on concern for the victims of terrorism. Whether or not the London bombings will lead to the much-anticipated rejection of radicalism from within remains to be seen. In any case, only when the Muslim masses are able to withstand self-criticism will their dependency on conspiracy-theories disappear. The other conspiracy-theory circulating the very day of the London attacks took the ubiquitous "Blame the Jews” angle. Sure enough, along came the accusation that the Israeli embassy and in particular Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was in town for a conference aimed at supporting investment in Israel, had been warned beforehand of the attack. Actually, the attendees were told by British Intelligence to stay in their hotel after the first blast. They were staying at the Great Eastern hotel near the Liverpool Street subway station, one of the stations hit in the attacks. If anything, the Israelis may have been among the intended targets of the attack, but instead they were treated as if they were perpetrators. Lest it be thought that such conspiracy theories emanated solely from the Muslim world or the fringe left, the Drudge Report featured a blood red headline on the morning of the attacks: "Netanyahu Was Warned!" The headline referred to an Associated Press article, which erroneously claimed that the warning was given before and not after the first bombing. AP later issued not a correction, but rather another article headlined, "Israel 'not warned' about London attacks." Instead of removing the link to the incorrect story or replacing it with a correction, Drudge featured it prominently at the top of his homepage for the entire day. To add insult to injury, AP soon generated another faulty story by misquoting Tony Blair as saying that the “easing the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians” is one of the “very deep roots” of terrorism. This article was later retracted. For anyone who still thinks wire services such as AP and Reuters (known as “Al-Reuters” in the blogosphere) and the mainstream media in general are immune to pushing conspiracy-theories, all of this was further proof otherwise.
Media outlets such as the BBC and Reuters that refuse to use the word “terrorism” when referring to acts perpetrated against Israelis and sometimes Americans, but have no qualms when the victims are British, European or anyone else, bespeaks an agenda that goes far beyond conspiracy-theories. This too was exposed in the aftermath of the London attacks, when all of a sudden the BBC discovered the T-word. Perhaps recognizing their own hypocrisy, they have since stopped using the term in their London reporting. Now it’s just called “bombing” or “bombers” as if such acts occur without any evil intentions. When not engaging in rumors and conspiracies, the Western Left did what it does best: self-recrimination. Taking the terrorists at their word, antiwar types immediately began blaming Bush, Blair, and the war in Iraq for the attacks. Nevermind that Islamic terrorist attacks on the West began long before the U.S. military stepped foot in Iraq, or that countries such as Spain, which did pull its troops out following the Madrid bombings, continue to be a target for terrorism. According to the apologists for terrorism, if Coalition troops withdrew from Iraq all would be well with the world. Of course, this is the same logic that puts forward Israel’s destruction (couched in “peace in the Middle East” terminology) as the other solution to terrorists’ demands. In other words, just do what they say and they’ll leave us alone. In truth, nothing we do will shake their quest for world domination because it has less to do with our actions and more to do with who we are. Infidels, unbelievers, kuffar or in other words, non- Muslims. Of those who jumped on the self-recrimination bandwagon before the bodies had even been counted was British MP George Galloway. Galloway put out a statement on behalf of his pseudo-Socialist political party, Respect: The Unity Coalition, blaming his own government and calling the attacks, "the result of a world that has become a less safe and peaceful place in recent years." Apparently, Islamic terrorism has nothing to do with making the world a less peaceful place, at least in Galloway’s warped view. Galloway would naturally share the perspective of terrorists since he seems to subscribe to their ideology. Several months ago, he played a prominent part in a rally organized by the British Palestinian Solidarity Campaign in which speeches were given calling not for only a general boycott of Israel, but also its outright destruction. In a recent appearance on Abu-Dhabi TV, he referred to British and American troops as "Crusader soldiers" and warned of the “hell-fires” that would consume the West in retaliation. Either Galloway’s been drinking the Kool-Aid down at the local Islamist mosque or he’s immersed himself in the self-loathing of Dhimmitude. Either way, he’s become a liability that the UK and the rest of us can ill afford. The proliferation of conspiracy-theories surrounding the London bombings were reminiscent of the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. It was only a week or two after those attacks that rumors began circulating alleging that 4,000 Jews had been warned beforehand and left the WTC before the attacks. Like the current “Blame the Jews” canard, this one had as its genesis an actual news story. A Jerusalem Post article trying to account for the number of Israelis in the areas of the WTC and the Pentagon at the time of the attacks was transformed into a conspiracy-theory for the ages. It later ballooned into wild speculations that Israel had some hand in the 9/11 attacks themselves. Although this story spread like wildfire throughout the Muslim world, where such conspiracy theories are de rigueur, it was initially dismissed in the West as an obvious falsehood intoned only by the lunatic fringe. But the rumor had staying power and today it’s been accepted as fact by an embarrassingly large number of people, almost all of them either on the left side of the political spectrum or the far right (as in Neo-Nazis). Added to the cannon of 9/11 conspiracy-theories were the whispers of a Bush/Rove plot. Believers alleged that the Bush administration, with the collusion of the Pentagon, were either behind the attacks themselves or simply allowed them to happen in order to institute a quasi-police state. Gaps in what we know about the attacks as well as outright falsehoods all melded together in the feverish minds of those searching for hidden answers. Whatever one’s criticisms of the administration and its approach to the War on Islamic Terrorism, one would have to be beyond cynical to believe that they’d allow 3,000 Americans (or more) to die simply to accumulate more power. I’m reminded of this cynicism whenever I receive e-mails from readers espousing such theories and encouraging me to “learn the truth” for myself. It never ceases to amaze me how many well-educated, otherwise rational people insist on pushing these fantasies. Unable to cope with the nihilistic and horrifying threat of Islamic terrorism, they instead turn to familiar demons. Having been inculcated all their lives with the belief that the United States and Israel are responsible for all that’s wrong with the world, they’re simply incapable of grasping the truth. How long these people can continue their delusions is unknown, but something tells me that a great number of them will simply have to be written off as functionally insane while the rest of us attend to the business of fighting Islamic terrorism. In some ways I understand this need to find more comforting answers. There’s been many a day since 9/11 that I’ve wished this threat wasn’t real. But it is. At some point, all of us will have to shake off the conspiracy-theories and face that truth.

HAMAS: POLITICAL ANALYSIS Hamas has again demonstrated that it is mounting a major challenge.
Photo: Hamas is challenging Fatah's traditional political monopoly.
Initial results suggest that the traditional Palestinian party of power - Yasser Arafat's Fatah faction - has emerged on top in an important round of local elections in the West Bank and Gaza. But the militant movement, Hamas has again demonstrated that it is mounting a major challenge. Both say they did better than the early results suggest, and there are serious disputes over the outcome in two key Gaza constituencies. But election officials say the initial indications are that Fatah won around 55% of the vote, to Hamas' 35%. According to the officials, Fatah won just over 52 of the municipalities being fought for. Hamas took around 30. And these results matter. They shed light on a process of significant change that is sweeping through the Palestinian political system. Electoral test: The Fatah faction that Mr Arafat founded and led dominated the political scene for decades. Under his leadership elections were rare. But now a phase of democratisation has begun, and Fatah is being put to the electoral test. These municipal polls are to be followed by a general election in a few months time. And Fatah is locked in a major contest with Hamas.
|
In Israeli eyes, Hamas is the worst kind of terrorist enemy. The militant Islamist movement has traditionally concentrated on its confrontation with Israel. But now it is moving into the democratic political arena. In the last bout of local elections in January - held only in Hamas's Gaza stronghold - Fatah suffered a series of landslide defeats. A repeat performance this time out would have been disastrous. But this was avoided. As one senior Fatah spokesman put it, the results showed that his party "remained the biggest force on the Palestinian street". And another spokesman said Fatah had learnt its lessons from the defeats of January. It had found a more open system designed to produce a better, stronger slate of candidates. But Hamas too can take strength from this election. It won important contests in big population centres, like the town of Rafah in Gaza, and Qalqilya in the West Bank. Hamas is claiming that the final results will show that it won half the seats it contested. Up for the fight: But even if it wins no more than the 35% of the vote that officials say it scored, that will not be a bad result. If Hamas could do the same come July's general election it might take a third of the seats. And Hamas is up for the fight. "We're not afraid of any election," said a Hamas spokesman, Mahmood Zahar. "We enjoy massive support on the popular level both as a liberation movement and representatives of true Islam." In Israeli eyes, Hamas is the worst kind of terrorist enemy. Its charter still speaks of ultimately seeking to destroy Israel, and its suicide bombers have struck repeatedly. But its supporters regard Hamas as merely hitting back in retaliation for decades of dispossession and occupation at Israeli hands. If the movement is able to exert significant influence over parliament and the decision making process here it will do everything it can to ensure that the Palestinian side drives the hardest possible bargain in any dealings with Israel. But many Palestinians welcome the prospect of the ending of Fatah's monopoly on parliamentary power. They want to see the emergence of a more democratic, representative political system.

Desecration Of The Holy KoranBy Gary Fitleberg There is talk that those people guarding
suspected terrorists flushed the Holy Koran town the toilet and thereby
desecrated the book. First and foremost, those deaf, dumb and blind Imams,
Mullahs, and Sheikhs who pervert the faith of Islam (purportedly a
religion of peace) and inspire its followers to commit mass murder and
mayhem in the name of G-d, is a hijacking and theft of a monotheistic
religion for dangerous and evil purposes. This bloody campaign of hatred,
incitement, terrorism and violence in a so-called Holy War or Jihad
against so-called Infidels is a blasphemous use of G-d and a religion to
cover up and justify ethnic genocide against any one not of their belief
and faith, i.e., the Judeo-Christians. Have you ever tried flushing any
book down a toilet? Have you ever tried flushing the Quran? Those
so-called "leaders" professing Islam today are flushing it down the toilet
by not teaching those peaceful tenants of the true faith and belief in one
G-d. Flushing any book down the toilet is impossible. It does not matter
the size or the title. So these fictitious allegations are absolutely
ludicrous. Another excuse to create riots against Western Civilization
(otherwise known to Arab/Islamists as “Infidels”). Soon after this
allegation is another upsetting the release of photographs of Saddam
Hussein in his underwear? Arab/Islamists claim that this is a completely
disreputable to someone who was once a “leader” of a nation. Has anyone
even bothered to ask if the photographs are legitimate photos or those
contrived by tabloids that thrive on profits rather than truth? It is
always a possibility, especially with computers and modern technology.
Saddam Hussein Insane was nothing less or more than a corrupt dictator,
human rights violator controlling and dominating a ruthless repressive
regime, state of terror and tyranny. Nothing more. Nothing less. He was
never ever a leader of a nation. Even if this maniac and murderer has
suffered the distinction of embarrassment of being caught with his drawers
down, it can never ever be compared to the humiliation he has caused
Iranians, Kurds and his own nation and people. Arabs blame everything and
everyone as an excuse for facing facts, reality and truth that they and
there so-called leaders are to blame for all of their problems. Until they
stop their animalistic barbarian behavior and stop spreading vicious lies,
myths and propaganda to their people they will not only face desecration
but destruction of their own fate. Hopefully, they will recognize and
change what they are doing before it is much too late. This includes
stopping their religious “leaders” from leading them down a path of blind
ambition and destruction. One good place to start would be teaching the
Golden Rule “Do Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You” followed by the
Ten Commandments. Once they learn these basics, they can proceed from
there. Arab/Islamists desecrate and destroy their own Holy Koran and Islam
daily. These people need to take an honest look in the mirror before
accusing others of being Infidels. In other words, those who live in glass
houses should not cast stones.

GAZA'S HISTORY & THE JEWS
What is the history of Gaza? Who holds claim to Gaza?
Gaza, or
in Hebrew Azzah, is a city on the southern coastal plain of Eretz Yisrael
(Land of Israel, today Medinat Yisrael, or modern nation State of
Israel.). In ancient biblical times G-d gave this Holy Land or Promised
Land as a gift in a eternal covenant that can never ever be broken to the
Children of Israel (descendants of Jacob). This is clearly documented in
the Deed of Trust to the land which is the Bible, Chumash, Five Books of
Moses, Pentatuech or the Torah. Two great gifts that can’t be given away
or stolen away. A settlement about three miles from the Mediterranean
coast, marking the southern border of
It was
part of the Philistine Pentapolis, the southern-most city in that league
of five cities (Josh 13:3 1 Sam. 6:17; Jer. 25.20). As part of the
Philistine Pentapolis, Gaza played an important place in the story of
Samson (Judg. 13-16). Just to set the factual and historical record
straight, the Philistines were a Mediterranean seafaring nation and people
that are completely extinct today. They are not one in the same people as
the Arab nation and people calling themselves “Palestinians” today. These
Arabs are the descendants of Ishmael. The name “
During the Hasmonean civil war, the city was taken by Alexander Janneaeus in 96 B.C. E. The Roman Pomey restored the city and Galbinus, also a Roman official, rebuilt the city (ca 57 B.C.E.). King Herod the Great held the city for a short time, but after his death it came under the authority of the Roman proconsul of Syria. It flourished as a Roman city and remained a center for the Jewish community and emerging Christian community throughout the Roman era (963 B.C.E. through 324 C.E.) and continued into the Byzantine period 324 C.E. through 1453 C.E. According to the Karaite Sahl b. Mazli’ah, Gaza, Tiberias and Zoar were the three centers of pilgrimages in Eretz Yisrael during the Byzantine period. Gaza, a fertile rich plain in fruits, wheat and vineyards was the site of three main fairs in Roman occupied Palestine. In a great battle fought near Gaza in 635 C.E., the Arabs vanquished the Byzantines; the city itself fell soon afterward. It remained the seat of the governor of the Negev, as is known from the Nessana Papyri. In the eighth century, R. Moses, one of the Masorites, lived there. The Judean and Samarian communities of the Jewish people flourished under Arab rule. Again there were a succession of attackers, conquerors and occupiers of Jewish Gaza. King Baldwin I of Jerusalem occupied the city, which was known in Crusader occupation times as Gadres. From the time of Baldwin III (1152 C.E.) it was a templar stronghold. In 1170 it fell to Saladin. Under Mamluk occupation and rule Gaza was capital of a district (mamlaka) embracing the whole coastal plain up to Athlit. After the destruction of Gaza by the Crusaders, the Jewish community ceased to exist.
In the eleventh century, R. Ephraim of Gaza, was head of the community of Fostat (old Cairo). Nothing more was heard until the 14th century. Meshullam of Volterra found 60 Jewish householders there during 1481 C.E. All the wine of Gaza was produced by the Jews (A.M. Luncz, in Yerushalayim, 1918). Obadaiah of Bentinoro records that when he was there in 1488, Gaza’s rabbi was a certain Moses of Prague who had come from Jerusalem (Zwei Briefe, ed. By A. Neubeuer, 1863). Gaza flourished under Ottoman rule. The Jewish community was once again flourishing and prosperous during the 16th and 17th centuries. The Kairite Samuel b. David found a Rabbanite synagogue there in 1641 (Ginzei Yisrael be-St. Petersburg, ed. By J. Gurland, 1865). In the 16th century there was a bet din and yeshivah in Gaza. Some of its rabbis wrote scholarly works. Farmer owners were obliged to observe the laws of terumah, (“priestly tithe”), ma’aserot (“tithes’), and the sabbatical year.
At the end of the 16th century, the Najara family supplied some of its Rabbis. Israel Najara, son of the Damascus Rabbi Moses Najara, author of the “Zemirot Yisrael” was Chief Rabbi of Gaza and president of the Bet Din in the mid 17th Century. In 1665, on the occasion of Shabbatai Zevi’s visit to Gaza, the city became a center of the messianic movement. One of his principle disciples was Nathan of Gaza. The city of Gaza was briefly occupied once again this time by Napoleon in 1799. In the 19th century the city of Gaza declined. The Jews that were concentrated there were mostly barley merchants. They bartered with the Bedouins for barley which they exported to the beer breweries of Europe. Gaza was a Turkish stronghold during World War I. Two British attacks made on Gaza during 1916-17 failed and it was finally taken during a flanking movement by Allenby. Under British Mandatory occupation and rule, Gaza developed slowly. The last Jews living in Gaza left the town as result of the Arab anti-Jewish disturbances and massacres which took place during 1929. In 1946, Gaza’s population was estimated at 19,500, all Muslim except for 720 Christians.
During Israel’s defensive “War of Independence” when five Arab armies invaded the re-established Jewish homeland with the intent of its annihilation, the invading Egyptian army attacked, conquered, and occupied Gaza, from May 1948 through June 1967 when it again attacked Israel with the intent to annihilate the only Jewish homeland in the world from the map, and Israel defeated its attackers and reconquered its rightful land. The town together with the newly created Gaza Strip, was put under Egyptian administration by the armistice agreement of 1949. The influx of Arab refugees, who were told by the Arab aggressors and attackers they could soon return after the Jews “were driven into the sea” later swelled the city’s population at least fourfold.
Bear in mind that most of the Arabs living in Eretz Yisrael only came in the middle to late 1920’s to escape economic hardship and political persecution by their own people for better opportunity. The 1967 census showed that 87,793 Arab inhabitants and settlers lived in Gaza City proper, while only 30,479 lived in the refugee camp created by the Arabs call for the annihilation of the only Jewish nation state in the entire world. These lived within the municipal boundaries. Of this number 1,649 were Christians and the rest were Muslims. Now we can compare this with the number of Egypt’s Jews who were forcibly expelled in the “Forgotten Exodus” whose properties were confiscated, who were brutally beaten, robbed, tortured and sometimes murdered. More ancient biblical evidence to consider…In 1965, a mosaic pavement was discovered by the Egyptian Department of Antiquities. This mosaic dated 508/9 was uncovered on the seashore of Gaza’s harbor. Its figures include one of King David as Orpheus, dressed in Byzantine royal garments and playing the harp. The name “David” in Hebrew letters appears above it. A Greek inscription at the center of the floor, which mentions the names of two donors (Menahem and Jesse) of the mosaic to the “holy place” and the name David testify that a synagogue stood there. In 1967, A. Ovadiah excavated the area and discovered a synagogue from the sixth century C.E.
Archaeology evidence supports the biblical premise of a continuous Jewish presence from the Late bronze period until the Byzantine period (ca. 1500 B.C.E. through 632 C.E. Evidence of a considerable Jewish presence during the Talmudic period in Gaza is provided also by a relief of a menorah, a shofar, a lulav, and an etrog, which appear on a pillar of the Great Mosque of Gaza with various Hebrew and Greek inscriptions. Despite the fact that there have been many foreign occupations of Gaza the territory belongs to the Jewish people. There can be no honest dispute who this land belongs to biblically, historically, legally, morally, and rightfully. The Children of Israel.

THE “MODERATE”
By Gary Fitleberg
Abbas is the author of a book denying the Holocaust entitled "The Other Side".

Mahmoud Abbas - or, as he is more affectionately known, Abu Mazen - has been declared a "moderate" by those who wish to whitewash his past career of murder and mayhem. But ABBAS might stand for Arafat in a Brooks Brothers Altered Suit. In reality and truth, this monster is nothing more or less than Arafat's partner and co-conspirator in crime for over forty years in the Fatah-controlled and dominated terror organization, the Palestinian Authority or Palestine Liberation Organization (PA/PLO). That's the very same "moderate" terrorist organization that has subsidiaries of terror such as the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade and so-called "security forces" like Force 17 or Tanzim, which work side-by-side with the more evil, "extremist", fanatical, fundamentalist sister groups such as Hamas, Hizbullah and Islamic Jihad. Abbas is the author of a book denying the Holocaust entitled The Other Side: The Secret Relations Between Nazism and the Leadership of the Zionist Movement, published in 1984 and based on his Ph.D. dissertation. Dr. Death or "Chairman of Terror", as the case may be, today he writes a new chapter in the Arab "Palestinian" Holocaust of the Israeli and Jewish people. It is a chapter he will claim is written because of the "Zionist enemy", as he has called Israel soon after his so-called "democratic" election. Abbas' career includes such noteworthy accomplishments as being Chief of the PLO and financially sponsoring the Munich Olympic Massacre of eleven Israeli athletes; blood on his hands during games dedicated to fair play. Is Abbas a "moderate" or peace partner? Can a leopard change its spots? From terrorist to politician and "president"? Abbas sounds no better today than he did yesterday.

The triumph of Israeli pole-vaulter Alex Averbukh in Saturday's European Athletic Championships was an emotional moment for the Israelis. "It was unbelievable," said team-mate Nili Abramski.
Abbas on Arafat: "It is our duty to implement the principles of Yasser Arafat" - Ha'aretz, 1/3/2005. Abbas on Israel: "The Zionist enemy...." - Associated Press 1/4/2005. Abbas on Homicide Bombers: "Allah loves the martyr...." - Wall Street Journal 1/5/2005. Abbas on Terrorists: "These are the heroes that are fighting for freedom...." - Ha'aretz 1/3/2005. "Israel calls them murderers, we call them strugglers." - Jerusalem Post 12/25/2004. Abbas on the Future: "The small jihad is over and the big jihad has begun." - Jerusalem Post 1/11/2005. Does that sound like a "moderate" or a "peace partner" to you? Do you believe Abbas honestly wants peace? Mahmoud Abbas, "Chairman of Terror" of the PA/PLO, must publicly retract his Holocaust denial and apologize, as well as fulfill prior commitments under the eleven-year-old Oslo Accords and the Middle East proposed peace plan known as the "Road Map", sponsored by the "Quartet" to dismantle and disarm terror groups, close bomb factories, arrest terrorists and end incitement against Israel. Far from being the great hope for peace in the Middle East, Abbas looks more like Arafat with a better barber and a stylish, tailored, silk suit. After all, he was Arafat's top deputy for 40 years, as well as beneficiary from all of the international "humanitarian aid" money earmarked to help the people that the PLO leaders cleverly diverted to their personal pockets and to fund terrorism. We would never ever consider accepting Osama Bin-Laden or Saddam Hussein's deputies as the successors, as well as financially sponsoring their terrorist organizations. Why so with Abbas and the PLO? Let's not make the same mistakes President William Jefferson Clinton made with Arafat. It was give, give, give - a billion dollars - with no accountability and nothing in return. As Arafat and Abbas have done for years, they laugh all the way to the bank - the "West Bank" - with stolen humanitarian aid money from the international community; money that that aids and abets mass murder and mayhem by means of charitable contributions. Mr. George W. Bush best not give Holocaust denier and PA/PLO "Chairman of Terror", Mr. "Moderate", $350 million dollars of the US taxpayer's money to support terrorism. President Bush has properly asserted in the past that "we will not deal with Palestinian leaders compromised by terror." Sadly, Mr. Abbas is all that and much more. Abbas was co-founder of Fatah and the PLO. He was a mastermind of the Munich and Ma'alot massacres. To add insult to injury, the "moderate" peace partner is a Holocaust denier who wrote that the number of Jews murdered in World War II was "only a few hundred thousand." The same "moderate" Abbas made the claim that there may never have been gas chambers. The same Abbas stated, "Zionists led a campaign of incitement against Jews to expand their mass extermination." (But substitute the words "Arafat", "Abbas" or "Arabs" for "Zionists" in the last statement for an accurate, honest, realistic and truthful accounting of history.) No US funds should be given to the PA/PLO until Abbas, et. al., clean up their act completely and honestly. Accountability should be America's top priority. All Arab "Palestinian" institutions that support terrorism must be dismantled accordingly. All of the "moderate" PA/PLO-controlled and dominated education system of hatred, incitement, terrorism and violence must be eliminated now. Both President Bush and Congress must not project a mixed message in the Middle East regarding sponsorship of terrorism. Let Abbas fulfill all of his obligations, first and foremost. Let's go by the book.
DISENGAGEMENT'S
SUCCESS LIES WITH DIASPORA
B'nai B'rith President Proclaims US Jewry's
Imperative To Support Israeli Policy

President Joel S. Kaplan Proclaims Global
Jewish Community Imperative To Champion Israeli Government's
Democratically-determined Policy. American Jewry's voice may be both unified
and amplified, as President Joel S. Kaplan's impassioned speech to BBI's
annual Board of Governors meeting reverberates throughout the Jewish
community. His persuasive argument for action, not merely words, prompted
bobbing heads and bursts of applause in the packed room. "Issuing statements
is not enough. Demonstrations of support for the disengagement policy must be
held. Advertisements must be placed. Spiritual support must be offered.
Sophisticated and effective Internet communication must quickly be developed,"
he declared. "If Israel is damaged. If Israel's chances for peace are
lessened, the blame will rest squarely on the shoulders of those who resisted
disengagement: those who civilly disobeyed; those who resorted to violence;
and, also upon those in Israel and the Diaspora - including the American
Jewish community - who refused to stand together to support Israel at this
most critical juncture," continued Kaplan.
UN Reform Advanced As Also Essential To Israel's
Eternality.
President Kaplan's speech also urged the
world Jewish community to exhort for United Nations implementation of the
internal reforms proposed by UN Secretary General Kofi Anan. "Elimination of
monetarily wasteful committees devoted solely to anti-Israel practice must be
achieved. A new UN Human Rights Commission must be achieved. Transparency and
accountability must be achieved." We will accomplish this "by contacting
legislative bodies of the various members of the United Nations, including the
Congress of the United States, and by creating a wide network of support
inside and outside of the Jewish community." "Israel is more alone than ever
before," he said. "In too many places, she is absolutely considered and
treated as a pariah…Make no mistake, the entire world has turned against
Israel…Clearly, efforts on behalf of the State of Israel have not worked and
are not working. This tiny nation is truly alone among the nations of the
world." "On some fronts, however, there is a glimmer of hope - a sense of
optimism - a belief that opportunity is here today, here now ready for the
taking, in the United Nations and by the State of Israel… Let us not debate
ourselves. Let us walk the difficult road toward peace together as one people.
We owe our children no less," he concluded.
