The al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades has announced it will not disarm after Israel's pullout from Gaza. The Interior Ministry has however warned that armed groups will not be tolerated. "We will continue to brandish our weapons in the face of the (Israeli) occupation as Gaza is only the first step towards the liberation of all of the land of Palestine,"...In Internet format.
Qurei: "PNA Rejects Ceding Jerusalem, West Bank for a 'Gaza State'... Israel Moves Swiftly to Capitalize on Pullout, Bush's Statements.". The Palestine Media Center stated that Prime Minister Ahmad Qurei was scheduled to chair a Palestinian cabinet meeting in the Jerusalem suburb of Abu Dis on Sunday to discuss and highlight the Israeli settlement expansion in and around eastern Jerusalem, which Israel occupied in 1967. Meanwhile Qurei indirectly criticized US President George W. IRAN ANNOUNCES NUKE BREAKTHROUGH. NICOSIA, Cyprus- Iran has announced a breakthrough in its nuclear program that could end Teheran's dependence on foreign suppliers for nuclear fuel. The Iranian Atomic Energy Organization said scientists have succeeded in purifying uranium ore found in Iranian mines. Officials said the method would substantially decrease costs in the production of concentrated uranium oxide, the first stage of the nuclear fuel cycle. Since 1999, the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization has researched the use of biotechnology to purify uranium from mines. Officials said scientists mastered the technique of using microbes to produce yellowcake, or U-3O8. "Using biotechnology substantially decreases the cost, increases optimization and prevents environmental contamination," Iranian state television said in a report on Monday.
PRESIDENT BUSH IS ASKING QATAR FOR THE SECOND TIME TO SELL AL JAZEERA. QATAR- Media sources in Qatar reported to the World Jewish News Agency that Qatar might sell Al Jazeera television station, news agency and web site in order to release tension between the American administration and the government of Qatar. President Bush is determined to get rid of Al Jazeera in any way, form or shape. HIZBULLAH TEST-FIRES IRANIAN ROCKET
. NICOSIA, Cyprus- For the first time, Hizbullah has test-fired an Iranian medium-range rocket near the Lebanese border with Israel. Lebanese sources said Hizbullah tested the Fajr-3 rocket on Aug. 25. The sources said three Fajr-3s were launched about six kilometers north of the Israeli-Lebanese border. One of the 240 mm rockets landed in Israel and the other two fell inside Lebanon. Nobody was reported injured. This was the first time Hizbullah fired a Fajr-3 rocket from Lebanon. The sources said Hizbullah was provided with the Fajr-3 in 2001, but the rocket remained under the supervision of Iranian military personnel.

GAZA, (IPC + WAFA) -[Official PA website] - The director general of crossings security, Salim Abu Safiyya, asserted that meetings with the Israeli side were continuing with the mediation of third parties in order to finalize an agreement on the status of border crossings after the Israeli withdrawal. YRIA LAUNCHES SCUDD MISSILES IN NEW TESTS. Syria has launched this week, three new Scud medium-range missiles in the military's biggest test of the North Korean-developed system. Western intelligence and Israeli sources said Syria fired the second Scud D missiles after the initial test which occurred on May 27 toward the Jordanian and Turkish border. They said the Scud D flew more than 400 kilometers and was exploded in the Hatay district of Turkey. This is the second Scud D missile test by Syria since 2001 and was deemed critical to continued development of the weapon. The sources said this was also the first time the Scud D missiles, which could be fitted with a biological and chemical warhead, were fired in a salvo. The sources did not say whether the Scud D was fitted with a weapons of mass destruction warhead. source stated the following: Three katyusha rockets were fired about
8:30 am Friday 19/8/2005, from a warehouse in Aqaba area where the
first hit a warehouse for the Jordan Armed Forces in the port and
resulted in martyring the Jordanian soldier Ahmad Jamal Najdawi and
wounding another, and the second exploded near the military hospital
where the third exploded in Eilat area in Israel. First-hand
investigations pointed that the warehouse was rented few days ago by
four persons carrying the Iraqi and Egyptian nationalities. Upon
directives from His Majesty King Abdullah II, HRH Prince Hashem Ben
Al Hussein the Regent, accompanied by a number of security officials
arrived in Aqaba to follow up the incident.
